Thing # 10: Online Image Generator

I had so much fun with image chef! This would really be useful in the classroom as a way to engage the students when we introduce a lesson. I also like the comic strip generator and can just imagine how our students would be so creative with this. There are so many images to choose from, students would have a ball, yet still be challenged because the text needs to be short and to the point yet portray something they have learned.

Great picture!Did you find it on flicker? I'm a science teacher and always looking for animation to add to my lessons.

Great ImageChef picture! I love this flower one. You are right, the great thing about using the image generators is that students have to work on their writing skills! They have to be brief and to the point. You will have fun using these with your students this year!

I agree with what you said about the image generators and the comic strip generators. They will be great for using to expand students' thinking! I teach 5th grade science, and I thought the comic strips could possibly be used to explain science concepts.

The comic strip generator was definitely my favorite. I can see using it with students who struggle with drawing but have a lot to say through illustrations.

I can see possibilities for using online images for writing too. Has anyone pulled together their thoughts into a lesson or an opening activity? Lets brainstorm and share together.

I agree with you. I think Image Chef is great and look forward to seeing if I can effectively use it on my ACTIVboard.

I love the picture!!! Students really respond to images, they always seem to like to take pictures with their phones. I think that Alex Rover's comment about using them in writing is great. Imagine creating a scene that has never existed and have the students comment on the picture. It would also be fun to have students describe a picture then use the online tools and have another students create it!!! Go Teachers!!!
